The Drone Dilemma

The puzzling problem of flying drones is causing headaches for those over airports all over the world. The increased usage of these flying machines has begun to interfere with airplanes and airports alike.

In the last 3 months, reported drone sightings have caused multiple planes to be grounded while mid-air. Aviation experts have stated that if a drone is to hit a commercial aircraft it could cause substantial damage and potentially harm the passengers on board.



This has been noted as a pressing issue yet there are no easy fixes that are readily available to correct the situation. There has been talk of a drone detection program. This remote identification would reduce the risk of drones being in the same radius as a moving aircraft, yet it won't be able to detect the validity of the drone and whether or not it is in the possession of a criminal.

I never realized that this would even become a safety risk and the extent to which it has evolved. After all that was said I think it's comfortable to know that there are people in the industry who see the problem and want to do something about it.
